Anything To Die For Is Feminine — Die, Der, Das, Den and Dem

Beautiful German Language.

The human mind is a combination of male and female energy. Why I’m talking about this? Because my mom desired a boy and I was the girl. So I was brought up like a boy. Though I’m straight but because of my high animus: unconscious masculine side I see the world of nouns differently. And German has many definite articles: Der, Das, Die, Den and Dem that first increased my confusion and then decreased my confusion. Also, thanks to the many ‘The’s of German my animus has reduced. But, I still love the adrenaline in my veins.

Most people don’t know the difference between ‘The’ (‘thuh sound’, used with consonants) and ‘The’ (‘thee sound’, used with vowels a, e, i, o, u). In English, the world of nouns is either masculine or feminine. But, in German we also have unisex: Das is its definite article.

Knowing Hindi and Sanskrit has been no breather. In English, the Sun and the Moon are masculine. In Hindi also, the Sun( Suraj) and the Moon (Chanda Mama) are masculine. But in Yoga philosophy, Sun is masculine energy and Moon is feminine energy. And to my shock in German the Sun (die Sonne) is feminine and the Moon (der Mond) is masculine. And I got a breather because I always relate myself to the Sun. I felt more feminine.

The ocean stirs my heart (der Ozean bewegt mein herz). In Hindi, the Ocean (Samudra) is masculine, too. I always thought the Ocean is male and the Sea is female. In the German Sea (das meer) is unisex. So, it’s okay. No problem.

In English, the air and the wind sounded masculine to me though in Hindi air (vayu) is masculine and wind (hava) is feminine. The wind (der wind) is male and the air( die luft) is female. Now, I breathe wind as hava in Hindi and die luft as air, so my feminine energy increased.

The fire, das feuer is unisex. No! It’s female for me. In Hindi, it’s Agni Devta, the masculine. And I do have suppressed anger So, I chose English. Have more feminine energy for me.

What is education? I was curious. I related to it in English as a discarded female, in Hindi as Goddess Vidya and Goddess Saraswati (goddess of knowledge). Knowledge (das wissen) for me is unisex in English. The education is die bildung. It’s female. Yoohoo!

The girl: das mädchen was a slight confusion in the beginning. Challenge was to know das opfer: the victim, is female. In English, I saw the victim as male.

The wine: der wein, the alcohol: der alkohol, the whiskey: der whiskey are masculine though they sound like feminine.

The flight: der flughafen still sounds like a female, rest seems to be the footsteps of male chauvinism. Der dandler: the dealer. Der chef: the boss. Der autor: the author.

I saw white as male. White color(das weib) is unisex which is awesome as it adopts. The white flowers are small (Die Weiben Blumen sind klein). The orange is die orange and the orange color is die urange farbe And that’s my color. The color of the sun. And to my shame, the color of Trump.

Glad to know ‘the examination’ is female: die untersuchung. The examination of success (die prüfung des erfolgs) but ‘after the examination of the human (Nach der untersuchung des menschen) is confusing.

The happiness of a woman (das glück einer frau) and the happiness of a man (das glück eines mannes) are neutral. But the happiness (die fröhlichkeit) is feminine. The happiness advantage (der glücksvorteil) is masculine. The happiness frequency (die häufigkeit des glücks) is feminine and the happiness of frequency (das glück der frequenz) is unisex.

German has indeed helped me in choosing my vibes. I am learning a new cultural and linguistic perspective which is absent in learning computer languages. I still have to dig Den and Dem.

My biggest hurdle was to remember out of Der and Die which one is masculine and which one is feminine. The answer is my innovative phrase “Anything to die for is feminine.” Die dame: The lady.

Update:

I don’t know why America always thinks she has to run all around the world forcing people to take our way of governance at the barrel of a gun. When you’ve got something really good, you don’t have to force it on people. They will steal it!

This quote from Dick Gregory made me realise America is feminine, I thought America is masculine. And there is clear confusion with India, sounds masculine to me. In Hindi “Bharat” is a masculine name and we call India as “Bharat Mata” (mata means mother) in Hindi and the other Hindi/urdu name Hindustan is masculine.
